Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Sino French Water Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as“SCIP SFWD”) was established in March 2002, which is jointly invested by SUEZ Group, Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Development Company, and Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Investment Company. The business scope covers the complete water cycle management from water supply to wastewater treatment, including industrial water and domestic water supply, demineralized water production, pipe network operation and world leading wastewater collection and treatment services.
SCIP SFWD operates a set of domestic water production equipment, an industrial water plant and a demineralized water plant to provide clients in SCIP with uninterrupted water supply services throughout the year. Among them, the domestic water and industrial water supply pipelines are ring networks, and the main sections of industrial water pipelines are dual, which effectively ensures the safety of water supply. Currently, the domestic water supply capacity is 9,000 m3/day, the industrial water supply capacity is 300,000 m3/day, and the desalinated water supply capacity is 8304 m3/day. In order to save water resources and conserve the water supply, most of the raw water for the production of desalination water comes from the equipment cooling water drainage in the wastewater treatment process, accounting for more than 70% of the total raw water.
SCIP SFWD’s wastewater treatment plant currently has a processing capacity of 44,500 m3/day, operating five biological wastewater treatment lines and two activated carbon adsorption treatment lines capable of handling highly polluted wastewater with complex compositions. The plant’s main discharge outlet is under 24-hour online monitoring by the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, and is subject to spot inspections by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. The company strictly adheres to emission standards and proactively implements upgrading projects in response to regulatory updates to ensure compliance. Its unique wastewater treatment approach, which includes classified collection, specialized treatment, real-time water quality monitoring, dedicated piping, separate treatment lines, and emergency response measures, has been recognized as one of the country’s first batch of "Exemplary Cases of Third-Party Environmental Management in Industrial Parks."
Jointing together with SUEZ Group, Tongji University, East China University of Science and Technology, and Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, SCIP SFWD set up Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Water Research Center (hereinafter referred to as“SWRc”) in July 2006, which is the first domestic research and development institution dedicated to industrial water supply and wastewater treatment research. SWRc is committed to being application-oriented and applying research results to practical wastewater treatment processes. Over the years, SCIP SFWD has continued to increase its R&D investment, strengthening its research foundation and emphasizing the conversion of scientific achievements into practical applications, achieving significant R&D milestones. To date, SCIP SFWD has obtained 66 authorized patents, participated in the formulation of one national standard and four group standards, contributed to a key national R&D project, and developed over ten databases, including a wastewater treatment analysis toolbox.
As a water supply and wastewater treatment service provider in the park, SCIP SFWD always adheres to high standards and strict requirements, and follows the principles of safety, environmental protection, and customer first to provide clients in the park with continuous and reliable water supply and high-quality wastewater treatment solution, as well as fully realizes stable water supply and wastewater discharge up to standard, playing an important role in building a world-class chemical park. With the excellent and reliable services, SCIP SFWD has won the trust of clients and the recognition of competent authorities, and successively got the honors of “Shanghai Model Unit”, “Shanghai Environmental Education Base”,“Best practice unit of responsible care in China petroleum and Chemical Industry”, “High-Tech Enterprise”, “IWA Climate Smart Utilities Certificate”, “Enterprise Technology Center in Fengxian District”,“Shanghai Foreign-funded Research and Development Center”,“Shanghai Enterprise of Specialization, Refinement, Specificity and Innovation”, “An excellent case of synergy in pollution reduction and carbon reduction in Shanghai” etc.
