On behalf of the Biofilm Specialist Group, I welcome you to the IWA Biofilms 2024 conference in Shanghai. Through workshops, technical sessions, industry presentations, and site visits, we’ll learn about the latest developments in biofilm science and technology, as it relates to the water and wastewater fields. The Organizing Committee and the Program Committee have worked tirelessly for over a year, and have achieved an extraordinary lineup of plenary, keynote, platform, and poster presentations. There also are many excellent workshops on a wide range of cutting edge topics. The technical content, along with the beautiful conference venue and unique gala dinner, promises to make this a truly memorable event.
