Prof. Hou Li'an is one of the pioneers in special pollution prevention and control technology in China. He has been dedicated to research in the field of environmental engineering for many years. Prof. Hou Li'an has invented numerous advanced technologies and key pieces of equipment for environmental pollution control, effectively addressing technical challenges in water pollution treatment and indoor hazardous gas purification. He has developed theories on specialized water pollution control and the management of hazardous gas pollution in enclosed spaces, significantly enriching China's environmental protection framework. His work has made significant and innovative contributions to the exploration and establishment of China's special pollution prevention and control system. He has received five National Science and Technology Progress Awards, 23 military and provincial/ministerial science and technology progress awards, and holds 22 national patents. He has published three monographs, contributed to five national military standards, and authored over 150 academic papers. He has been awarded first-class merit once and third-class merit four times. In 1996, he received a special government allowance, in 2001, he was awarded the "Qiushi" Outstanding Young Scientist Award by the China Association for Science and Technology, in 2005, he received the first "Invention and Entrepreneurship Award," in 2006, he won the first Outstanding Professional Technical Talent Award in the military, and in 2010, he was named a National Advanced Worker in Popular Science.
